The Essence of Onyx
Onyx People Consultancy, creates spaces where people and purpose meet. Just as onyx supports inner balance and courage to overcome challenges, individuals are empowered to feel rooted in their identity and supported in reaching their fullest potential.
The layered depth of onyx reflects the richness of diversity — the many unique stories, perspectives, and talents that make each person invaluable. Like the enduring strength of the stone itself, the mission is to create lasting change that transforms spaces into thriving environments where everyone can shine with purpose.
These qualities don’t just inspire the name — they shape every action and decision.

At the heart of Onyx People Consultancy are core values that guide the approach and commitment to creating meaningful ever-lasting - change.

Meet the Founder - Ramona Williams
"I’ve spent over 20 years building my expertise in HR as a CIPD-qualified professional. in the last 4 years, I’ve channelled my energy into a deep specialism in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. My career has taken me into some of the world’s most dynamic workplaces, and I’ve seen firsthand how inclusion, resilience, and genuine human connection can transform culture.
My Caribbean roots, my experience as a woman of colour, and my roles as a wife and mother aren’t just parts of me—they guide me. They’ve shown me the power of spaces where everyone is heard and every story is valued.

My mission? To create pathways that unlock the potential of underrepresented groups and empower them to become future leaders. I work to ensure that every person can stand proud in their true authenticity, and that every identity is not just accepted, but celebrated—in every space they enter.
Career Journey
"My career has been a journey of lessons, challenges, and transformations—each role shaping how I lead, connect, and create change.

I started at Direct Line Insurance (RBS), where I discovered my passion for the customer and the power of setting a high bar. Through quality assurance, I learned that excellence isn’t just about ticking boxes—it’s about raising standards so people feel truly valued.

From there, I entered William Hill, in my first HR role. In the HR Shared Services I learned the importance of listening deeply and tailoring support to individual needs. Attention to detail became second nature, and I realised that even the smallest adjustments can make a big difference to someone’s experience.

At Home Retail Group, I stepped into the world of ER case management, where empathy and resolution were at the heart of my work. Here, I honed my ability to manage complex situations with compassion and fairness, always striving for outcomes that balanced both people and process.

My time at Santander strengthened my leadership through others. I gained a deep understanding of central services and how to improve the employee lifecycle so that the employee experience isn’t just considered—it’s prioritised.
Then came Amazon, where I truly came into my own - authentic and unapologetic, using my own lived experience to create a better work experience for others. Over nearly a decade, I rose through the ranks—from HR Advisor to Senior HR Business Partner, and ultimately to DE&I Change Manager for UK Logistics—shaping culture across one of the world’s most complex organisations. My work reached from frontline operations to executive leadership, spanning diverse cultural regions worldwide, and cementing my role as a powerhouse of inclusive strategy.

It was here that I became a bold, fast-paced, and innovative leader, using data-driven initiatives to move the dial on people and culture. I learned how diversity, when embraced fully, becomes a catalyst for high performance. I launched award-winning programmes like Trading Places Reverse Mentoring and led Amazon’s Black Employee Network for UK operations to national recognition, championing authentic voices and stronger communities.

Each chapter of my career has deepened my belief that when people thrive with purpose, organisations don’t just succeed—they evolve."
